The sixth annual Charlie Joseph's Lobbin' it for Literacy tennis tournament is scheduled for June 19-21 at the McCluskey Tennis Center. Held during the months of June and July, the CLCP Summer Reading Program provides books, arts and crafts supplies, school supplies and snacks for participating children. Mama Jama and other special guests provide the children with stories and encouragement to continue reading during the summer months.
Debbie Burdette, Executive Director of Troup County CLCP, expressed her appreciation for those who have participated in the past and encouraged everyone to sign up for this year's event. "Support of Lobbin' it for Literacy has allowed CLCP to make a difference in the lives of scores of children each summer. I look forward to seeing some great tennis and great players playing to help eradicate illiteracy in our community."
Troup County CLCP is a collaborative between local business, education, government and community. To accomplish our goal of a certified literate community, the CLCP encourages a love of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning and supports those programs with similar goals. CLCP promotes literacy awareness and programs to assist students in need of basic literacy education.
