The sixth annual Charlie Joseph’s Lobbin’ for Literacy Tennis Tournament was HOT HOT HOT, but a lot of FUN FUN FUN. Despite the 90 degree weather, some of LaGrange’s finest tennis players were out on the court participating in some very competitive matches while supporting the Troup County CLCP. A list of winners and runners-up for each classification are listed below.

Debbie Burdette, Executive Director of Troup County CLCP, expressed her appreciation for the tournament organizers and sponsors saying, “Lobbin’ for Literacy could not happen without the generous support of Joey and Paula Keeth who once again served as Gold sponsor and provided every participant a certificate for lunch at Charlie Joseph’s. Special thanks go to Bill Champion and Cheryl Pitts for organizing the event and all the tennis staff that made it happen.”

Burdette also thanked other sponsors and supporters including the Marilyn Smith State Farm Insurance Agency, Patron sponsor; LaGrange Grocery Company who supplied water for the tournament; and CB&T, C’Sons, Lazy Peach, Taste of Lemon, and West Georgia Technical College, all of whom provided door prizes.

Proceeds from the tournament will be used to sustain the Troup County CLCP Summer Reading Program in the Benjamin Harvey Hill Homes community. The literacy movement is continuing to gain momentum and provide our community with an educated workforce which promotes economic development and a better quality of life for all of our residents.
