The ninth annual Leggin’ It for Literacy 5K Fun Run, presented by the LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club (LJWC) to benefit Troup County CLCP, is scheduled for Saturday, September 26 at 7:00pm in downtown LaGrange.
For the second year in a row, the festivities will take place under the stars in the Country’s BBQ parking lot between Vernon and Broad Streets. There will be activities for kids and demonstrations from Towne Fitness starting at 7:30. Music from the popular band, “PAPA”, featuring Peter and Perrin Alford, will get the crowd moving before the start of the fun run and walk.
In addition to their sponsorship, the LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club organizes the annual event with volunteers coming from the ranks of their membership. For LJWC member Lisa Sapp, “This is my 3rd year as race director and I absolutely enjoy helping and supporting the event.” LJWC President Amanda Smallwood says, “We are very proud to be sponsors for the race.”

Their efforts are critical to the success of Leggin’ It for Literacy,” said Debbie Burdette, Executive Director of Troup County CLCP. “Purchase a t-shirt, run or walk if you can, or just bring a chair and join the crowd. Leggin’ It for Literacy provides the community with an opportunity to have fun and hear some great music while also supporting the efforts to erase illiteracy in Troup County.”
