Troup County CLCP recently held an orientation and board recruitment session to share information on their efforts to eliminate illiteracy in Troup County. Interested citizens, from all walks of life, attended the meeting to learn how they can become part of the Literacy Solution in Troup County.
CLCP Chairman, Andy Fritchley, provided an overview of the CLCP organization and discussed the three elements that comprise the Literacy Solution: Children, Adults and You. Focusing on the services and support provided to children and adults, Fritchley reminded those attending that the organization needed more from the “you” element in order to continue working towards solving the problem of illiteracy.
Following the presentation, fifteen people answered the call to “contribute their time, talent or treasure,” agreeing to join the CLCP Board of Directors. During a regularly scheduled board meeting following the orientation session, the following people were unanimously elected to serve on the CLCP board: Dana Chambers, Laura Erickson, Lynne Holle, Jim Humphries, Alfreda Hyman, Cindy Jackson, Joyce Ellis-Johnson, Julianna Karr, Timothy Monroe, William Ralph, Maria Ransom, Shanitra Ransom, Ashley Reed, Victoria Walker, and Wendy Zwilling.
“We are very excited to have these community leaders join the CLCP Board of Directors,” said Debbie Burdette, Executive Director of Troup County CLCP. “Their commitment to join in our work is indicative of the importance of creating the Literacy Solution in Troup County.”
“I look forward to working with the new board members as we continue our efforts to promote the importance of education and the value of lifelong learning”, said Fritchley, adding “but there’s always room for more.
