Students enrolled in the Adult Education program at West Georgia Technical College recently celebrated the end of spring quarter with a pizza party sponsored by Troup County Certified Literate Community Program.
Debbie Burdette, Executive Director of Troup CLCP, commended the students saying, “Each of you is part of the Literacy Solution in Troup County. We are proud of your hard work in the classroom and it will be rewarded when you earn your GED.”
“We are grateful for the efforts of Debbie Burdette and the CLCP board,” said Susan Prestridge, Adult Education Instructor at West Georgia Technical College. Jewel Albright, teaching colleague of Mrs. Prestridge, echoed her sentiments saying, “This celebration means so much to the staff but more importantly to the students who appreciate the show of support from CLCP.”
Troup County CLCP is a collaborative between local business, education, government and community. To accomplish our goal of a certified literate community, the CLCP encourages a love of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning and supports those programs with similar goals. CLCP promotes literacy awareness and programs to assist students in need of basic literacy education.
