The tenth annual Leggin’ It for Literacy 5K Fun Run, presented by the LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club (LJWC) to benefit Troup County CLCP, is scheduled for Saturday, September 25 at 7:00pm in downtown LaGrange.
With a 5K run, 1 mile Fun Run and Tot Trot for children, there is something for all ages to participate in. Registration for the events and activities for children will take place in Country’s BBQ parking lot between Vernon and Broad Streets. There will also be live music for all to enjoy. A “BIG SHOE” award will be given to the group or organization that has the most participants in the 5k event.
In addition to their sponsorship, the LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club organizes the annual event with volunteers coming from the ranks of their membership. “I am grateful for the support from the LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club. Their efforts are critical to the success of Leggin’ It for Literacy,” said Debbie Burdette, Executive Director of Troup County CLCP. “Purchase a t-shirt, run, walk or just bring a chair and join in the fun. Leggin’ It for Literacy provides the community with an opportunity to have fun while also becoming part of the Literacy Solution in Troup County.”
Registration fee is $20 and all race participants will receive a long sleeve t-shirt, Country’s Famous Barbecue Sandwich and Sweet Tea. Runners may register online at
http://www.active.com through September 22. Onsite Registration ($25) begins at 7 pm on the day of the event. The 5K Run begins at 10 pm and the 1 Mile Fun Run is off at 10:05 pm. Children may participate in the Tot Trot that begins at 7:30 pm. For more information, contact April Pennington at 706.594.3614.
