Troup County CLCP opens nominations for Second Annual Literacy Award
November 11 2011
Troup County Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP) is now accepting nominations for the second annual Troup County CLCP Literacy Award. The annual award will honor individuals, professionals, institutions, businesses, and organizations that have made considerable contributions to literacy initiatives within our community.
“We honored four deserving recipients last year and we look forward to acknowledging others who are committed to fighting illiteracy in our community,” said Debbie Burdette, Troup CLCP Executive Director. “By recognizing some of the individuals who have contributed their time and talents to our cause, we hope to encourage others to become involved and help sustain this positive momentum for education.”
Honored for their work last year were Polly Pitts, Angeline Brooks, Chloe Harrell and her parents John and Diane Harrell and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
Recipients of the award will come from the following categories: one individual not affiliated or paid on behalf of a literacy organization; one business, institution, or organization; and one literacy professional who promotes literacy awareness as part of their paid position. Nominations are open to the general public and must be submitted online before November 30, 2011.
