The Troup County Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP) promotes community- wide literacy and enhances the quality of literacy by encouraging a love of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning and supports those programs with similar goals. Specifically, CLCP promotes literacy awareness within the greater community and supports programs to assist students of all ages in need of basic literacy education.
The Troup County CLCP Literacy Award honors individuals, professionals, institutions, businesses, and organizations that have made considerable literacy contributions within our community. We hope this recognition will inspire others to demonstrate a strong commitment to this lifelong foundation of learning.
Congratulations to our 2010-2011 Literacy Award Winners: Polly Pitts, Angeline Brooks, Walmart Distribution Center and Chloe Harrell and her parents Diane and John Harrell. All were honored as recipients of the first annual Troup County CLCP Literacy Awards at the 2011 Spelling Bee.
The Troup County CLCP Literacy Award recipient(s) will be selected according to the
following criteria:
( 1 )Outstanding accomplishment in any of the following areas:
( 2 )Positive results of the contributions and their benefit to the community: Exploration of the impact the nominee’s efforts have had on the lives of individuals or the community.
( 3 )Commitment to Literacy: Continued loyalty to increasing literacy, building a love of reading within our residents, and improving literacy programs within our community.
( 4 )Individuals, institutions, businesses, and organizations from Troup County, or operating within Troup County are strongly preferred.
The Troup County CLCP Literacy Award shall be given to at least one (1) individual not affiliated or paid on behalf of a literacy organization, one (1) business, institution, or organization, and one (1) literacy professional who promotes literacy awareness as part of their paid position.
