Held annually in the fall, Leggin’ it for Literacy is a 5K (5 kilometers, 3.1 mile) road race held in downtown LaGrange Georgia. The road race is a fun community event with typically over 200 runners and spectators turning out to support the event. Planned and organized by the Junior Woman’s Club of LaGrange, the event has been held, rain or shine, since 2001. All net proceeds from the race go directly to the Troup County CLCP helping our organization promote a love of reading, lifelong learning, and programs for basic adult literacy.
In 2008, the road race was moved from a Saturday morning to a Saturday evening start time. So, now the road race has a new twist as runners navigate downtown LaGrange through lighted streets, LED-lit balloons, and spectators cheering along the way.
